I recently switched deodorants, and developed this dark, really rough skin underneath my arms. I have since stopped using the new deodorant and went back to the old one I was using, but the dark skin hasn't gone away. It doesn't hurt but occasionally itches and it just plain feels weird to be there. Can anyone help?
Dark, rough skin under arm?
If it has a velvety texture, it's probably "acanthosis nigricans", which is common in those who are very obese or have type 2 diabetes mellitus. Rarely it can occur in those with cancer.

i had that!! I actually put gold bond lotion on it because it said it was for really dry skin...wash the area a lot, and it goes away within a few days :]
Reply:stop using deodorant for a while until you heal then try a different one or contact your MD for rash
Reply:It was an allergic reaction to the new product. If I were you I would temporarily refrain from using any products until the color of the skin is back to normal. Adding any type of chemical to an aggrevated skin will only hinder healing time, even if you were to switch back to your former deodorant.
