my face was sunburnt a while ago and my cheeks turned bright red for a few days, than it started to peel.,,, it looked like my face was healed .. but a few days later the redness will come back at the exact same spots.. and a few days later it would peel again...this happened a few times now.. and each time i made the mistake of peeling off the skin when it wasnt ready to be peeled off..this time i waited for it to peel on its on..now all the dead skin has peeled away but the new skin is still slightly red.. there are red tiny bumps in some areas so it feels irritated and itchy? it still feels like my face is hot at times.. i thought this was suppose to stop after the peeling? what is wrong and what can i do to make it better? will this go away.. and how long does it take for new skin to heal?
Why is the new layer of my skin red, irritated, there are tiny bumps and its itchy?
go to the dermatologist. use some aloe vera gel (go for the organic kind without alcohol, which damages your skin even further - Jason brand is a good one).

go to a dermatologist and stop picking your skin!
Reply:grr that happened to me...use a lidocane lotion because aside from the itch and burn it helps the new skin feel better and not be affected by the surrounding skin. the bumps happen, theyll go away, dont pick at them. you might also get freckles. it takes about a week for your skin to go back to fairly normal.
Reply:it's just part of the sunburn. you can get Ocean Potion Aloe Gel, or just any aloe gel. it helps cool down your skin and also make your tan last longer. ;]
Reply:Peeling the skin is the worst thing that you can do. The reason that the new skin is red is because you did not give the skin time to form a scab. If the spots are red and hot, that is a sing of inflammation. Try to use a soft cloth with warm water. If that do not work, see a Dermatologist
Reply:i can tell you exactly what happened. it's happened to me, too.
you only have so many layers of skin. you have burned beyond the healthy layers (i exfoliated the healthy layers) of skin.
you know when you cut yourself , but not real deep and the clear stuff comes out; the clear stuff before the blood starts?
that is what the bumps are. the clear liquid before the blood.
it will take at least 2 weeks before it will stop completely.
do not wear makeup. only sunscreen, but try to stay inside and out of the sun.
do not use exfoliater on your face or anywhere else that's burned.
the skin will have to 're-layer' itself. i have only found one product that helps the cell renewal of skin. plantolin. the phone number is 866-643-9035. it's the only way i know to get it.
if you find anything else that does cell renewal, PLEASE contact me. i'm looking.
Reply:How long ago was 'a while ago?' That has a lot to do with it, so does the level of severity of the burn and the type of skin you have. Persons with extremely fair skin and those who burn easily tend to take longer to heal from sunburns than persons with more melanin (stuff that makes you tan/dark) in thier skin. A sunburn is not just a sunburn...it can go from redness to 1st, 2nd, 3rd degree burns....Often, sunburns are accompanied with blisters, these are white blood cells, and interstitial fluid accumulated under the burn to protect the underlying skin, prevent the burn from continuing, and to help heal damage done. Caution should be maintained when the blisters are of decent size, the larger in diameter and/or the amount of blisters means that more of an immune response is being utilized. Itching results from your own response to the antihistamines released during the healing process, unless something came in contact with, or you applied something co-currently to your skin during or after the burn. Best bet is to see a dermatologist if; you generally heal from sunburns easier, and/or the burn was not bad enough to warrant this type of reaction. But keep in mind that peeling is normal, and you have more layers of skin than most people are aware of and all the damaged layers will shed....good luck...i'd reccomend only Cetaphil lotion or straight aloe vera...fragrances and oils in many lotions can make it worse...
