thanks

Human cells have 46 chromosomes. To ensure that each daughter cell receives one and only one of each chromosome, eukaryotic cells undergo a complex, multistep process called mitosis. Before mitosis can begin, eukaryotes must first replicate their DNA. This process is similar to but takes much longer than DNA replication in prokaryotes. Then, during mitosis, the replicated chromosomes line up along the center line of the cell. Tiny fibers, called spindle fibers, attach to the individual chromosomes and pull them apart, toward opposite poles of the cell, where they remain until the cell divides.

Long story short, the new skin cell will still have 46 chromosomes.

46 mitosis only copies number of chromosomes not altered
Reply:lilibert is right.
Reply:It will have 92 until it splits off in what they call the Anaphase I belive.
Reply:Doesnt Mitosis cut it in half? So wouldnt it be 28?

Im supposed to be learning this in school so idk

haha
Reply:it will have 23 chromosomes.
Reply:46 - mietosis creates 2 identical daughter cells, meiosis creates sex cells that have 23 chromesomes
Reply:Mitosis produces two exact replica daughter cells, so the new skin cells will still have 46 chromosomes.
Reply:mitosis does not change the amount of chromosomes...any cell undergoing mitosis will result in 46 chromosomes...the only time a cell divides and doesnt have 46 is in gametes...and the division is meosis, for sexual reproduction
Reply:Mitosis will produce an identical daughter cell 46 chromosomes (23 pairs). Only after meiosis are there less because sex cells have 23.
Reply:it will have 46. the chromosomes do not divide or multiply. the DNA gets copied resulting in the same number of chromosomes.

the only way this number would be different is if there were mutations, where the chromosomes didn't split right.
Reply:After mitosis, each daughter cell will have 46 chromosomes. Skin cells are diploid, meaning they have two copies of each of the 23 chromosomes.
